"The reports are that many key members of the Teen Titans are spread around the world, but as to why, no statement has been given, and while our beloved heroes are all but gone, a new breed of young super villain has risen to take from Jump what they please..."


"... And while no one is certain as to who exactly is committing the crimes, or why, what is certain is that no one wants to be in the way of this fearsome foursome..."

"Hmm, C'mon Shane, even you have to admit, that was a great haul, am I right Dani?"

A tall and slender redhead with bright green eyes smiled as she playfully nudged a taller, slightly haggard looking boy with dark mildly moppy hair, and steely blue eyes as a shorter and curvier raven headed girl with gray eyes as she primped with a mirror and then blew a kiss at her reflection and smiled at the redhead; "No kidding, the load was so good that we could knock it off for a few weeks and just take it easy." Dani looked at the boy and licked her shiny pink lips slowly before a "perfect" blond bombshell with icy blue eyes walked over to where the boy sat and rested her hand on his thigh, leaned in and kissed his cheek, giggling; "Aww, don't be so down Shane, things are going great, the stupid Titans are hiding like scared little kids... Just think, in time you'lll have anything you want, anything at all..."

Shane looked to the girl and shrugged lightly, then gave a faint smile as she leaned in and kissed his neck and giggled some more.

"Geez Levy, do you have to rape him here and now?" Dani said as she checked the rings in her arms and the metallic ribbons that where woven into them.

"At least I'm getting the attention and respect I deserve, Dani."

"At least I'm not a grubby attention whore, Lev."

"You take that back now you sparkling little slut!"

"Make me you watery bimbo!"

"Knock it off you two cry baby's!"
The tall redhead stood between the two younger girls with her eyes and hands glowing and a rock floating over her shoulder as she gazed at her "sisters" while Shane snuck off to his room to be alone away from all the noise, his head pounding at the insides of his ears again as he felt like something inside him was about to explode and last time that had happened, he had blown a car up when he had looked at it, and while he hated the fighting, he did enjoy the attention the three girls where giving him, even if he didn't understand why...


For two weeks, Shane, or at least that was the name he had been using, had been running the streets with them, getting into fights, robbing stores, banks and other places for what they "Needed" which at first was just money and food, but soon had moved onto big screen TV's and fancy furniture, gold and computers and other trinkets, and while He couldn't say that he wasn't liking three attractive girls fawning over him and cheering him on, but something deep inside him was raging at his path, and how he was doing things, that...


Things that seemed fine and dandy, but felt terribly wrong deep down inside...

"BOOM!"


"Let's go!" Chill said as she ran out of the gaping hole in the side of the armored truck, a sack of money in hand as Shocker, and Dusty did the same, Shane following them down the street at speed as the truck exploded again, its gas tank blowing.

And deep inside Shane, something seemed to cry out in agony...

Violet's head jerked upward as she sensed Shane's inner fire, along with another source of flame right near it which felt about the same. Shane was up to no good again, no doubt. First, she was sad, but then she felt irritated. Couldn't his next breakdown wait until there was nothing illegal going on? She touched the radio of the bike and came to a stop.

"Robin, we have a situation near the docks," she reported. "It's Shane. Civilians are in danger. I'm going in."

The burning flames flared sideways as if from a sudden wind, and a purple tint climbed down the tongues of fire until they all burned lavender. Then, with a second flare, they went out entirely. Violet stepped out in front of them, her blazing eyes hard. There was a sadness beneath the surface, but even Robin, skilled as he was, wouldn't have been able to detect it. She stared down the three girls, meeting Shane's eyes last. She could read the uncertainty there, and she didn't like it. He was just as confused as before, and he was handling it just as poorly.

"Enough," she said, her voice level. "This stupidity has to stop."

She didn't know when Robin was coming, but she sincerely hoped it would be so. Toe to toe with Shane, she was okay, but he had three superpowered...who even knew what she should call them. In any case, she would need the backup.

Robin turned a corner and accelerated hard into traffic, pulling onto the expressway and responding to Darkbrands call; "I hear you Darkbrand, I'm about ten minuets away, maybe less, can you contain him?"

While she answered he deftly punched in a few commands on the center console and wove through traffic, going faster and faster, most of the motorists in Jump knowing to stay out of the large Sliver and Blue car's way...

Shane looked at the dark haired, and purple eyed girl, his eyes sad then angry as he dropped his sack of money, and the three girls he was with did the same.

"Lookie here girls, it's a little goody goody two shoes here to save the day!" Levy said sneering as her aqua blue eyes lit with power and an underground pipe ripped up from the ground and gushed water up into a sphere that hovered between her hands.

"I think she needs an introduction, don't you Dusty?" Dani said as her hands and arms crackled with electricity, arcs of raw power slowly reaching out and touching the ground around her feet as her gray eyes glowed and sparked.


"I think so Sparks, what about you Burn?" The tall redhead said as a few rocks rose up from the street and started to float around her hands as her green eyes glowed and mixed to a brown color, her hands a rusty brown color as she pulled more stone to her...

Stupidity?
Where did she get off calling what he did Stupid?
What right did she have?


Shane, or "Burn" as the girls had started to call him, growled lowly at Darkbrand as his fists glowed, and his voice rippled out lowly; "She does... But she's mine, get the loot back to the place..."

He stepped forward and faced her, his eyes hard, but still lost and hidden deep down, sad, lonely and scared.


Not that he'd ever admit that now, one thing the girls had taught him was that those feelings where a sign of weakness, and he was anything but weak, so why act like it?
No, he was strong, stronger than this meddling girl, his adversary and as far as he cared, his final test, and as the anger and frustration built up, he could feel and hear that voice soft, low, even, and deadly whisper in his ear; "She's the one that's standing in your way, who's blocking your memories..."

But somehow, as much as it made sense to him, it just felt wrong, still, nothing else about his life thus far felt right, so he was ready to go with simple logic, rather than complex and confusing emotion and feelings.

Blue tinted fire exploded from his hands and he leveled his fists at her, and fired a volley at her as he charged yelling; "I WILL beat you!"

A startled look came into her eyes and turned into a peal of laughter. Her eyes gleamed brighter, but there was nothing hostile about it, though when her eyes usually flared in brightness, it meant that people should duck and cover. While it meant that she was experiencing a spike in emotion, for once it wasn't a negative one. It had been quite some time since she'd had reason to laugh, and it felt good.

"I've been called a lot of things," she said, still grinning broadly. "'Goody goody two shoes' is not one of them."

She seemed strangely unphased by his anger, which was odd since she was certain he was used to more fear or at least wariness from his opponents. Yet she was smiling for the first time in a very long time, and even his blatent hostility couldn't break the relief of the action. Like most pyrokinetics, she felt emotion very deeply, whether it was anger or sadness. Or joy. She hadn't realized she was capable any more.

"Shane, why do you keep seeing me as an opponent? All I've ever done is try to help you," she said, her smile subsiding into an exasperated smirk. "Unfortunately, in this case, you've crossed the line. You're hurting innocent people, and I can't let you do that."

She wanted to stop the other three, but her instincts told her that it would be stupid to try to ignore Shane and go after them.

Shane looked at the girl incredulously as his attack faded away, his flames of course not harming her at all, his eyes dark and tight as he squinted at her in disbelief; "Help me? How is constantly confounding what little I know and remember help? Don't you realize that every time I see you, all I hear is a voice that tells me to kill you? That you're the very reason I'm the way I am?!?"

He grit his teeth and glared at her, his mind a storm once more and his hands still glowing hot with fire as he gave her a death stare...

The three girls at this point had taken Shane's advice and grabbed up the loot then left.

"Now tell me, why should I trust you? Why not just end this and get some peace? I fall asleep and your face haunts me, the voice in my head taunting me, scorning me for failing! And I don't even know what or why!"

He let out a very dog like howl and shot at the ground, a crater of pavement and smoke forming between them as he shook with frustration...

"It's not me that is confusing you," she denied. "It's your conscience. All I do is remind you that you have one."

She locked eyes with him, unimpressed by his show of aggression.

"I can see it in your eyes. You aren't fighting me; you're fighting with yourself. Your darker impulses are fighting the good part of you, and since I'm the one that reminds you of the confliction, you keep attacking me."

She couldn't really reconcile his thought process with her own. He was treating her like she was the incarnation of his good side, and he was embracing his darker side wholeheartedly. All he wanted was to be rid of the confliction inside of him, and she could understand that much, but by now she realized that the internal struggle between good and evil wasn't something that could ever be resolved. Not while they were still alive. She hoped that didn't mean that he wouldn't stop attacking her until one or both of them were dead.

Shane shuddered with anger as he looked at her, her words haunting him, a part of himself knowing it was the truth, but another part of him unwilling to accept it, due to its source...

"But what if what you say isn't true? What then?" he challenged as he stepped closer, his hands still at his sides, still glowing as his eyes lit with flames and the air warmed around them and he lowed his stature some and started to pull as much heat into his hands, a surge of kinetic energy building up as well.

"Or what if it's true and I really don't care any more? Ever think of that?" he said as a sudden surge of power exploded from his hands a bolt of thought driven kinetic energy racing for her as a ripple of flame followed...



Meanwhile not too far off, Chill watched from around the corner of a building, her bright blue eyes glowing as she waited for the first blow to tell if Burn would need help or not...

"If I'm wrong, then you are attacking me for no reason and I must defend the innocent people anyway," she said. "Either way, I can't let you hurt them."

His attack was very fast, but very direct, just like the last time they fought. Her instincts and reflexes were all that allowed her to avoid it. As she hit the deck and rolled back to her feet, the bolt hit the brick wall behind her with a loud crack. A flaming dent appeared in the building, bricks crumbling to the ground. She looked back at it for a moment before looking back at her opponent. Fire flared in her eyes as she gritted her teeth. Amnesia or no amnesia, she was sick of beating around the bush, trying to keep from hurting him while he did his best to destroy her.

"Back off, Shane," she warned. "I don't want to hurt you, but I will if I have to."

She pulled the communicator from her pocket. She didn't have time to wait for Robin anymore, but she really needed his help for something. It was obvious that Shane wasn't pulling his punches, and the buildings weren't likely to be enough protection for the people in town. When she fought all out, things tended to explode. When he did, buildings tended to crumble. This wasn't going to be pretty.

"Robin, things are heating up fast," she told him. "You need to get the people out of this area now."

"The bird boy's going to need to call you back later..." Shane growled as twin beams of blue heat arced from his eyes and smashed the device from her hand as he jumped up and dove at her, his fast back and flaming, his feet bent under him as he heaved all his might into this blow, his anger getting the better of him, even as his instincts raged at him to be smarter about his attacks.



Chill watched with some mild amazement at the speed the other girl was moving with, and after a moment, it clicked for her that this was the girl Shane had told her about, the girl he had met in the warehouses who had caused all his discomfort.

And having a thing for Shane, Levy felt it was her job to give him a hand, so she waved her hand and fired a bolt of ice cold water at the girl, knowing it would just steam away, but hoping it would distract her long enough for a few ice daggers to form up and fly at her.

After all, when one has dual powers over ice and water, switching between the two could take a little effort...

"Great," she snorted, irritation crossing her face.

That was the only communicator she had. Without it, she couldn't get in touch with Robin, to update him or to urge him to hurry as she was wanting to do. Besides that, it was a sign of trust that Robin had given to her. One of the very few she'd ever gotten. He gave it to her with an offer, to let her try out for the Titans. But it was still just an object, and she wouldn't waste time thinking about it when there was another threat. More troubling was the fact that he seemed to be getting more feral as time went on.

She could only dodge his attack, not confident that she could match him in a contest of pure strength. She leapt high into the air by the use of a burst of flame, accelerating upward like she was powered by rocket fuel. The resulting heat around her transformed the water to steam, but not before Violet could recognize the direction it came from. So, the others were deciding to help him after all.

Robin, what's the holdup?

Shane's fist pummeled the ground where Violet had been a moment ago, a loud crashing noise accompanying the flash of light and burst if dust and smoke that flew everywhere, the steam clearing quickly as Chill ran up to Shane and pointed at Violet yelling; "Hey! Why can't you do that Burn?"

He looked at her then gave a slightly evil smile as he shrugged; "Who says I can't?" and with that a pair of small explosions sounded as twin blue flaming craters formed where the young male pyro had been standing as jets of pure fire blasted from his now ruined boots, his strong lean frame flying into the air after Violet, fire in his eyes as he closed the gap and reached for her leg, ready to grab her and throw her to the ground.
"I know why you always run Violet! It's cause you can't beat me! Can you?!??"


Before he had hesitated, and it had cost him his victory and release, but this time, he would not falter, he would get her and best her, one on one, with or without help from Levy, he would break every bone in Violet's body if he had to, and he would take the fire from her eyes and extinguish it, slowly, pulling every ounce of heat and light from her as she fought and failed...

A hideous, malevolently evil and even maniacal smile started to spread over his face, even as deep down inside, something felt like it burned, burned with anger and pain at what he was thinking, at what he was doing... But he was not far from realizing that his efforts to quench that still small and powerful voice, where about to come to naught...


Destiny would not let an agent of justice fall into evil without a fight, even if it meant that one of it's wild cards had to break him first...

"Sure," Violet snorted. "That's it."

Her voice was inaudible over the deafening sounds coming from both pyrokinetics. He was coming up fast, and she didn't want him to catch her when he was in such a bad mood and not exactly in his right mind. Changing tactics, she slowed up to allow him to catch her, keeping just far enough away to keep him from being able to reach her. When they were almost level, she turned toward him. They were pretty high up, and this was just the place. Flame patterns blossomed from her fist down her arm as she reverted to a technique that wasn't known for it's elegance, but would certainly get the job done. Ironic that a person trained in so many martial arts disciplines would try something like this.

She punched him squarely in the jaw, releasing stored kinetic energy at the point of impact.

Despite his skill in using his powers (granted most of it was automatic rather than purely deliberate, cognitive thought) Shane wasn't used to flying, in any way shape or form, so when Violet suddenly slowed, he thought he had his chance, but she had slowed so suddenly that when he grabbed at her leg, he almost grabbed her...
Uhh...
Chestal...
Uhh...
Female extremity's...

And he reflexively hesitated, even when part of him didn't care, another part wanted to go for it, and still another part was glad he had paused, but anyway you sliced it, he had hesitated, and that threw off his momentum, and opened him up for a simple but effective move: a punch to the face...

"SMACK!"

His head spun, his jaw popped and his eyes flashed with shock as he was throwing into a spin and down to the ground into the side of a building with a "CRASH!" his head spinning and his ears ringing as he licked at the blue tinted blood that leaked from his lips, the hot steely, nickle like tang biting into his tongue as he coughed some...


"Shane! You Jerk! I'll own you for that!" Levy said as she formed up the last layer of ice on a pair of nasty looking spikes and fired them from her hands, her blue eyes glowing brightly as she ran to Shane's side, then stopped and gasped, her eyes fading and the ice melting away as she saw him stand up...


He was larger, MUCH larger, and covered in fur, with a tail, and big baby blue eyes.
With shoulders that where as wide as a small car and arm and legs that where as long and thick as young redwoods and a neck that was long and solid, and sleek dark grey fur hinted with blue, he stood, towering over Levy, her eyes suddenly wide with fear and revulsion...
"W-wha... What are you? Some kind of monster?!?" she said as she backed away quickly and then blasted him head to toe with a gush of icy cold water that knocked him onto his back with a howl of pain as steam rose form his blistering hot body, a injured whimper drifting up from him as he shook there on his side, a look of pure wounded fear on his furry dog like face.

"H-help me?" he said softly as he looked up at Violet, his voice feral and deep but scared and lost...

Ice was so easy to deal with, it was barely worth the effort, but nevertheless, deal with it she did. It melted far before reaching her, and as soon as the liquid touched her skin, it evaporated in a cloud of hissing steam. More pressing was the strange transformation happening below. He was growing...growing...growing in size and the fire inside of him flared and grew almost exponentially. She had seen a lot of things in her life, but nothing like this. She lowered herself to the ground, her eyes narrowed in interest and confusion.

And then his "colleague" did something strange. She attacked him!

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" she demanded of the girl. "Attacking someone who's supposedly important to you just because he has abilities you didn't expect? Of all people...!"

If she had one thing that bothered her, it was betrayal. Particularly betrayal on the grounds of being different. Though there were no flames around her, her eyes still gleamed purple, and they burned with anger. She stalked toward the girl, glancing toward Shane every few moments as he whimpered in pain and confusion. The air began to shimmer with the heat her skin was generating, and with the rising air, her hair ruffled upward lightly.

"I suggest you dust tracks before I get really angry," she warned.
