[Tim Drake]

Tim stepped into the kitchen through the back door, his sneakers squeaking lightly as he turned and locked it behind himself and then hefted the small sack of food from one hand to the other, as he looked about at the spotless kitchen, and heard the TV in the living room a scant few yards away playing a sing-a-long, a soft sweet feminine voice lightly singing about colors with tiny high-pitched squeal that mimicked the sounds and words it's owner heard...


"Hey..." Tim said softly as he peeked his head around the corner and looked in one the pair of pretty blue eyed blond's, a small smile on his face as he stepped in and walked to the couch, and sat next to them, hug's being exchanged between the three.

Once Tim was settled, he let a light sigh out before he leaned over to Olivia and wrapped his arm around her shoulders and hugged her again lightly and spoke; "Raven and Starfire are back, and we have this new girl from the future calling herself Jetta, and I think she's got a major crush on Will, and Violet likely hates her guts..."
It wasn't unusual for him to talk about everyday happenings in the Tower, so long as it wasn't some super secret thing or put others in danger, but he wondered how she would take that news...


Then whispered softly into her ear; "Hey Livvy? I'm, well... We're leaving tomorrow for New York, Violet and me that is..." he shifted some as he leaned back some and looked at her expectantly, since they had talked some about the now pending trip to the east coast, she knew he and Violet where going to help some people, because of a promise, but she didn't know all the details and that was for her safety as much as anything else.

“Red and Orange, Green and Blue, shiny yellow purple too, these are the colors that we know, way up high in the rainbow” Olivia sat on the couch coloring with a purple crayon in a nice lilac flower. Looking up, she smiled to Tim who had just came in. “Hey!” she giggled, returning his affection, and passing him a coloring book. “Feel free to join in” She welcomed him. Melting into his side, she placed down the purple, and took a sky blue crayon for the daisy.
Then he spoke of the tower. Pulling away, she looked to him. “What?” she asked, her lips going from a smile to a pout. She didn’t like this… THREE new girls, in that stupid tower, the stupid T shaped tower. That was kind of ruining her potential life with Tim. They had a future, she could sense it, but the fact that that obvious tower existed ruined it. She put down the crayon, and turned, looking directly at him. Three new girls, AND he has to leave. “Wow, thanks for the notice, Nice to know how important I am” she continued to pout.

Ruby however, continued to ignore Tim, only piping up with a single “red!” when she felt like it. Ruby’s favorite color was red. It was the ONLY color, as far as she was concerned. She bit her lip in concentration, she was going to make the entire page red…

Tim blinked at the coloring book in his hand, then shrugged and looked at the crayons and asked; "Got any green?" before he blinked once more and looked at Olivia and her reaction to his news.

"Uh yeah... I told you they had both gone out on recruiting missions, and now they are back from that, Starfire is back from Europe and Raven from Asia... It couldn't have happened at a better time, this new girl Jetta, she claim's to be Beast Boy's daughter from like twenty years in the future, and she's all but thrown herself at Will, and she's done everything to piss Violet off short of kicking her in the shins and calling her a whore, and I'm not sure she won't try that..."

He looked at her, and her reaction, which in a way made him feel like he had just told her he was gay or had been plotting to sleep with a room full of prostitutes, two things that would never happen, because of her, and the fact that he loved her kinda made the two wild ideas impossible in his mind.

"What? I told you I was going to be going to New York soon, did you forget?" he asked genuinely puzzled, and wondering if had forgotten to tell her about the New York trip.

It could have been that he had totally forgotten to tell her, but he was SURE he had made mention of it at some point this last week.

Hadn't he?

Olivia looked to him dead in the eyes now. "No, I can't forget something you didn't tell me" she said, putting down the crayon. "I know you can't tell me everything, but you have to tell me some things, if this is an actual relationship." Olivia pouted, and then started to pick up the crayons, placing them back in the box, one by one. They went in color order, as if she were truly trying to organize the crayons for the year old girl.

Olivia then stacked the coloring books on top of each other, and then finished with the crayons. She looked around for red when....

"Red!" Ruby exclaimed, a nice deep red drawing from the crayon on the flat white paint on the wall... "Oh... My... God... Ruby!" Olivia rushed over to Ruby, taking the crayon and her daughter all in one scoop. "No, we don't draw on the walls... no, your going in your crib now anyway" Olivia took her upstairs, and put her down, Ruby kept crying, but olivia knew she'd be asleep really soon. The blond came down and looked to the mark on the wall... great...

Tim closed his eyes as they rolled, his head shifting with them some before shaking slightly; "Aww, dang Livvy, I thought I told you about that..."

He paused a moment before he crossed his arms as she cleaned the coloring books and crayons up; "Now that's not totally fair, I tell you as much as I can, without forcing the risk of endangering you and Ruby, and if I forgot to tell you I was leaving on a mission, then I'm sorry, but..."

But what? But he had bigger or more important responsibility's?

No, Olivia and Ruby where just about the most important things to Tim, but then the moment he paused to think about that was when it again struck him that there was going to be a conflict of interests between the person Tim Drake, and the persona Robin, and this was the first if not the perfect, example of said conflict...


Looking to the wall, Tim facepalmed before going into the kitchen and getting a cleaning brush and some goo-b-gone, the orange-ish scent covering the wall as he scrubbed a bit, most of the red pigmented wax stuff they made crayons from coming off.

After a moment he looked back at Olivia and sighed; "I'm sorry Olivia, but for at least a few days, I can't be you're boyfriend Tim Drake, I have to just be Robin, boy wonder..." he set the brush down and gave her a sad look as he got up and walked over to her and spread his arms for a hug; "I'm going to miss you two... don't think I'm just trying to get away, I wish I didn't have to go, but I made a promise, and I need to keep it."

He was torn, and he knew it, and he had somehow known that it would come to this, likely over and over, but he had still let himself fall in love with her, and while he was still struggling to define just what it was about her that had him hooked, he also knew that it was a slippery and treacherous slope ahead for not just his barely there personal life, but for Olivia and Ruby as well, and above all, not just because he loved them, but because it was part of his core personality, he did not want to hurt them at all... Somehow he felt as if he might just end up doing that regardless...

Olivia sighed, watching Tim scrub. “I know, and its not totally fair, the whole situation isn’t, but fair is not what I’m concerned about at the moment. I want what’s best for us, You, Me, and Ruby… “ Olivia took a paper towel and dried the wall behind him. “Ruby loves you, Tim… She loves you, and I love you." Standing, Olivia massaged her kneeling boyfriends shoulders. “We’re a little family…” she said, walking away now to throw out the paper towel she used. Her hips were swinging side to side, as she made her way to the kitchen, Her head down, as it normally was when she walked, as if not to get into anybody’s way. Though no one was here, or there, or, wherever they were. “And family means no one gets left behind.”

She came back to the living room, pouting slightly as she plopped onto the couch, the basket of laundry joining her as she folded. She watched Tim do his thing, as she mulled over what to say next. Why couldn’t just Violet go? She was… an asset to the team… Maybe it was because she just felt a little awkward when Violet was here. She had nothing against her, but, she never knew what to really talk about. She noted that Violet read a lot of books, and knew French. The blond didn’t know any other languages, and the last book Olivia read from cover to cover was “Green Eggs and Ham” by Dr. Suess. (Not a bad read actually, 4 stars!) The house was always quiet when Violet was around, which was needed after Will’s shift.

Will was the one Olivia felt normal with. She laughed, and had a good time, no matter if Ruby was up or not. Will was not afraid to get down and dirty and play a game with Ruby, just so Olivia could catch a little nap after working all night, and being a parent by day. Olivia locked eyes with Tim, a curious look met his gaze. She wondered what was going on in that raven head of his.

Tim scrubbed thoughtfully as he listened to his girlfriend talk, and he smiled up at her as she rubbed his shoulders lightly, then he paused and watched her walk off, a comment floating behind his eyes for a moment before he went back to attacking the last of the red coloring on the wall, and let a sigh out; "And I love both of you, but... I highly doubt that you would like going to Gotham with us, I mean, I'm pretty sure running around on rooftops, dodging bullets and tracking crooks down isn't your idea of a romantic evening on the town." he gave the wall one last swipe with the brush and then leaned back on his hands and checked his work, stood and then faced her; "I'm not leaving you or Ruby behind, I'm protecting people, both of you above all..."


Timothy set the brush and cleaner down on the coffee table and then sat on the other side of the basket and started to help fold up the bath towels, as he thought a moment at her comment then looked at her thoughtfully; "Olivia... I... I would understand if you got sick of me running around in a cape and mask all the time, but... I made a promise, and while I may try to keep Tim and Robin as separate as possible, the fact remains that while they might be two entity's removed from each other, they still are needed by the same body, mine..."

He was starting to feel guilty, but even so, he had given his word, and he wasn't fond of breaking in, and while not superstitious, he didn't want to temp the powers that be by breaking a promise to a dead young man who had saved his life...

Olivia looked to him, frowning slightly at his answer. "Ok, Whatever I guess, Its your life" The blond stacked the towels,she had done neatly, so they made a perfect tower.Looking over to him, she had to give a little sigh. "I know, and its just scary, I have a hard time keeping you and Robin as two different people, your a ying yang, without one, the other ceases to exist" She knew this was true. Without Robin, Tim was just another guy, but without Tim, Robin was a no nonsense super hero. They needed each other to function.

Olivia blinked, and finished folding the towel, and just brought her knees to her chest. Hoping for the best.

Tim gave a slight half-smile to her as she sat back, and he leaned in and kissed her cheek to make her feel better, and to appease his own conscious somewhat.
"No I care about what you think I just... I know it's hard, but... I want it to not just be my life, I want you two to be a part of it."

Okay, he was lame, lame lame lame, he should be able to explain this better, but he was failing, likely because the only other girl he had bee involved with back in Gotham, had also been a kind of super hero, but she had her own path she had set for herself and that had taken her away from him, when he followed his own path here to Jump, but that wasn't a big deal, other than Tim was having a harder time relating to Olivia in certain matters.

Tim shifted and moved the basket full of towels to the floor and then moved over and hugged Olivia warmly; "Hey... While that might be true, just because there's a balance does not mean there is stability... That's what you and Ruby are for me, your what keeps me stable, and I wouldn't trade that for anything on earth... But this is something I must do, I made a promise, gave my word... That means a lot to me Livvy."

He wanted her to understand that he wasn't wishy-washy, that she could trust him to be honest and faithful, and that he wanted this to work, but that was going to be hard, harder than he had bargained for.
But then again, Tim felt that Liv and Rue where well worth fighting for.

Sighing heavily, Olivia gave up. "Whatever" she said. Cuddling into his side. This was how things were meant to be. Them, together forever, living the life of normal people. Where their only responsibilities were to take care of Ruby, and do basic life functions. She wanted to be normal. The teen shrugged, she knew giving up was going to be the best option. Let it be, he’ll be safe. “You just need to make a promise to me, if your going to go” she said. She feared this now, but it had to be said. She figured he would say yes, but she wouldn’t hold her breath, males were a tricky gender.

She stood up, facing him, wanting to hear him say that he promised first. “You have to promise to come back here, alive” she said, not wanting to think of him breaking the promise. It was too painful, to have to think of a disaster of that caliber. Picking up the folded towels, she looked into his eyes one last moment before sauntering off to the linen closet. Maybe she should move in here permenantly? She still lived out of the suitcase.

Tim smiled up at her for a little as she stood, but when she spoke of making a promise, he grew serious, as she walked off...


Getting up he followed her and no sooner had she closed the door to the linen closet then he pinned her to the wall under him, his lips falling on hers without warning, but with a hunger to taste her cool sweet mint and berry mouth again, his hands falling in place, one just above her shoulder, the other moving around her waist to pull her close as he poured himself into this kiss.

Breaking away he gasped lightly and then whispered to her as he rested his cheek on hers, a light blush warming his face; "I can't logically make that promise... But I will... I swear to come back to you, and to sweep you up in my arms and kiss you so you'll know how much I've missed you when I get back..."

He pulled her a little bit closer and kissed her again, this time pushing her back into the wall lightly as his hands moved down and scooped her up under her butt and legs, lifting her face up level with his own, to give her an easier time of this, this hungry meeting of lips as it was becoming.


Hmm, he really wished now that Feurs had stayed alive, for more selfish reasons than he might care to openly admit right now...
