Name: Violet- The Character -
Name: Claire Nicole Slater
Alias: Virage
Species: Human
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Team Affiliation: None.
Member Group: Anti-hero.
Canon: No.
Appearance: As a civilian, Claire is a beautiful young woman with blonde hair and blue eyes. Her face is just the right balance of angles and curves, making her face soft but striking. She wears tight blue jeans and a plain maroon blouse most of the time, along with a silver choker which she wears around her neck. A librarian, she always dresses up slightly, but what she wears doesn’t accent her body. Her meek expression and quiet confidence are appropriate for a woman of her profession, but they are not truly showing her personality. To protect her identity, she wears her hair down as a civilian and up as Virage. Her true personality only shows when she goes out as the anti-hero.
As Virage, she wears a black leather outfit with maroon accents. The homemade costume has intricate maroon swirls flowing upward toward her head, and on her face she wears a simple black mask with silver edges. The neck goes halfway up her throat. Around her waist, she carries a black bag which rests on her right hip. Contained within it are her weapons: a huge arsenal of throwing knives. Weighted to suit her style, she wields them like an expert, and combined with her powers she has a deadly combination of skill and speed. Her shoes are boots, but the soles are custom so that they cannot be tracked back to her. She wears black gloves to keep from leaving fingerprints. Her hair is usually pulled back into a long ponytail.
Personality: In public as a civilian, Claire is a quiet and bookish individual. She does as she is told, and can never be found getting into trouble. However, she is respected among her peers for her extreme intelligence and her quiet assertion when necessary. She knows how to use tact, and avoids conflict through her skill at diplomacy. Still, there is a wall between her and others, and no one can claim to know her very well. She doesn’t let people in, and she rarely voices her thoughts without being asked. Even then, she often edits enough that no one ever gets the full story. They often get the feeling that they don’t understand anything about what goes on in her mind. That’s probably a good thing. She is very bitter and angry inside, despite her calm and sweet exterior.
She funnels her emotions into her powers, and that gives her strength. As Virage, she is able to outlet the build-up. Considering herself above the law, she takes whatever she likes and causes chaos to destabilize the precarious system on which society depends. She likes to show everyone that the system cannot save them in a world where people can ignore it. Unlike the man who killed her family, she works without the system, recognizing its limits and trying to enlighten everyone else.

Strengths and Weaknesses: + Telekinesis – she has minute control over her telekinetic abilities, and immense strength. She rarely uses hand-to-hand combat, but she uses her telekinesis to fight, directing her knives and other objects toward her opponents, or just hitting them with powerful blasts of kinetic energy which could shatter a block of lead. She also uses this ability to allow herself to fly.
+ Telekinetic barrier – Using her telekinetic abilities, she is able to create a barrier of energy which will stop whatever attempts to penetrate it. Nothing can penetrate it.
+ Telepathy – Virage can communicate with her mind, and use her abilities to project things into the minds of others, be it words, images, memories, or anything else she likes. Using this power, she can also block things from the minds of others, such as awareness of certain things, like her presence. She can also nudge someone’s mind so that they are unable to concentrate. In the case of other telepaths or telekinetics, she can make them unable to maintain their abilities and mental barriers, like using a frequency to interfere with a signal.

History: Very little is known about the history of Virage. What authorities have gathered through tantalizing hints is that at some point in her life, Virage was living homeless with a group of orphans and that her misfortunes were the result of someone who worked through the system to get money and consequently ruin her circumstances. Very little information beyond that is known. She became an active criminal almost two years ago, and attempts to capture her have resulted in the deaths of many policemen and a masked vigilante whose name was not released by the police or discovered by the press. Her modus operandi involves mental warfare and knives which are thrown in alternation with blast of telekinetic energy.
These days, Virage is looking for a worthy opponent with whom she can cross blades, so to speak. Her powers make it so that difficult opponents are rare, and it gets boring to have everything so easy. In her search for a difficult opponent, she read the names on Slade’s target list in his mind. She is systematically working through them, erasing their memories of her if they prove to be too easy to defeat. She came to Jump City when she heard that there were active heroes cleaning up crime. It is just too fun…
Notes: Even she doesn't know that her name used to be Destiny Cromwelll, and that she was the sweetheart of Will Talbot before Slade interfered. She was caught and through torture, her mind was broken. She forgot everything about who she was, and after years of training under Slade, she became Virage. Her powers developed unexpectedly a couple of months into training, and even Will didn't know that she had them. She didn't know herself. Through experimental procedures and brainwashing, Slade made her forget about his interference, and she now only considers him from a distance, as one of the millions whose mind she can hear.
