Short answer: This RP takes place after the end of the last season of the animated series.
Detailed explanation: Under the purview of Detective Comics Animated Universe Cannon, per Paul Dini, we see that the START of the Cannon begins with the TV shows “The adventures of Superman: the animated series” and “Batman: the animated series” which both pick up the “classic” stories shortly after the Origins of said characters, and both shows in fact backtrack slightly to give quick but concise overview of the origin of both the man of steel and the dark knight, and from there expand the universe they live in via conflicts with both popular and slightly obscure villains they are famous for fighting.
Shortly before the ends of the two ORIGINAL series’ we see some crossover between them, with other DC Cannon heroes making guest appearances, namely Robin (Richard Grayson), Batgirl (Barbara Gordon), Green Lantern, The Flash and Wonder Woman, with a timeline CLEARLY progressed at a more rapid pace then in the Comic-book realm, since we see that in the next major series, “Batman/Superman Adventures” there is backtracking ONLY to the last dozen episodes from both previous shows, and then from then on it’s a fast track to setting the stage for the next shows and major story arcs, with Dick Grayson as Nightwing, Tim Drake as Robin, and a now dead Batgirl (Some said simply crippled as in the Comic-books and no longer relevant) it is soon clear as to why the new series is almost franticly paced; by the end of the combined series story lines, next to every popular DC Hero has been introduced in some fashion or another, and soon, after a two seasons, all the classically based “Stand alone” shows are over, and we get a double whammy in the TV shows “Static Shock” a seemingly standalone that is quickly folded into the new and improved DC Cannon Timeline, and “the Justice League” which is shortly followed afterward by Batman Beyond, a look into the future of the persona of the Dark Knight, as well as the DC Universe, which is where we NOW must draw the total distinction from the comic-books, as characters such as Virgil Hawkins and Terry McGinnis where never a part of the main or “true” DC Comic-book universe and where originally just spin-offs or “what if?” series in their own right, but where made Cannon for the DC Animated Universe.
So where does that place Titans Tempest and Titans Tower?
Well, first we must answer the question of how does the Teen Titans TV show fit into the DCAU, and while in a SINGLE Episode of Static Shock where in the title character inquires of guest hero Batman; “Where’s Robin?” the Dark Knight gave a reply that sparked a twinge of giddiness and frustration with a simple; “He’s with the Titans now.”
Great answer for fans everywhere, but well, the thing is, despite the overall application used for the show, both in presentation and in writing, Teen Titans was almost totally a stand alone from the rest of the DCAU, which rather angered many fans of all the CN/WB produced and Paul Dini guided shows that made up the DCAU, however David Slack who took on the Teen Titans Franchise said that he wanted a TV show that was geared more towards the younger fans of DC Comics, and he felt that by using a more Americanized Anime style with exaggerated expressions, comical “Chibi” like influences, and a softer and more stylized form of action violence, he could make the distinction clear, that he was aiming for a younger age bracket then was currently being reached by the “other” DC shows at that time.
However, it MUST be noted that, given the story lines that where used in ALL the TV shows that make up the mainstream DCAU (which where all taken from the Comic books) it is a VERY small step to add the Titans into the DCAU, since the story-lines used for the Titans shows where taken from the same general era that was used both as inspiration and as the framework for many of the episodes that made up the Batman and Superman, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited story arcs on TV, most notable among them the “Judas Contract” story arc known as “Aftershock pts. 1&2” as well as last season of Teen Titans wherein they grow their ranks and battle the Brotherhood of Evil, freezing them in their headquarters under Paris.
It should also be noted that early in the Teen Titans series, specifically the TV Episode “Fractured” where we see an alternate dimension doppelganger of Robin, that it is practically spelled out that Robin is Dick Grayson, as the Double introduces himself as “Kcid Nosyarg” which is Dick Grayson spelled backwards.
For our timeline, and Cannon, the site “Titans Tempest” takes place almost directly after the end of Season 5 of Teen Titans which is roughly (although not concurrently) set to be towards the end of the third season of The Justice League, just before the Justice League Unlimited starts up, where we assert (and as such bend DCAU Cannon slightly) that Dick Grayson, being the oldest of the Titans, leaves behind the Moniker of Robin to a new young vigilante, Timothy Drake, and takes up the name of Nightwing, and leaves the Titans under an only slightly younger Robin, who is now, as seen in the Teen Titans TV show, as being the second oldest of the Titans, and the new default leader, to maintain the legend of Robin, and protect the other Titans, who are in on the “secret” but here, as in the original DCAU, Jason Todd was never Robin, and in fact, doesn’t exist.
Before the Tempest strikes, which is something alluded to as a “coming storm” in many threads that are listed in the Timeline and Site Cannon, Robin sends his team out to recruit more young heroes around the world, and to establish more bases of operations as needed, before returning to Jump City, but while alone in Jump he starts to pick up clues to a new threat, however in the process of gathering more information, he finds and rescues a young woman named Violet Schultz, a pyro-kinetic who has been caught to be studied by scientists working for an underground organization known as “the board” whom Robin, and later Batman and the other heroes of the DCAU start to suspect is a shadow front for the dark dealings of Lex Corp VIA a stocks trading and business conglomerate called the Pax-Que corporation headed by a man named Martin Taylor, who is currently unknown as the mercenary and thief Vorac.
Our original ad-ons to the DCAU should be obvious, and if not, we can answer that question should it be asked.
For the site “Titans Tower: The NEW Series” we take the same overall theme ideas and timeline from “Titans Tempest” but move forward five years, the major Original Concept Characters that where introduced in Titans Tempest, are now cannon for our DCAU (extended) timeline, and a lot has happened in five years…
Over all, the cannon and timeline used is basically the interim years between the ending of the Justice League Unlimited and Teen Titans TV shows and the DCAU Cannon show, Batman Beyond, which was set some thirty plus years in the future of all the other shows in the DCAU.
So yes, its more TV than Comic book based, however persons that where featured more in the comic books rather than TV are allowed so long as they are DC cannon, also OCC's MUST fall under the format and style of the DCAU.Thank you to Blaze (ESBebop) for compiling this. ^^
