Will blushed slightly and shrugged as he drank his milk and then went about finding some breakfast, then getting dressed in some navy colored shorts and a black tank-top, he then found Robin and got directions to the training room, where he went to...
Well, uhh, train?
Okay, so that was a lame excuse, yes he wanted to test himself in a safe environment, he also had this strange interest in Violet, which, at the moment he couldn't explain, outside of perhaps a tiny crush, which he was NOT willing to admit yet...
Walking into the room he was greeted with the impressiveness of it, as well as the pleasant sight of Violet training, his senses locking on her lavender and hot cinnamon like scent, which, Will knew was due to her powers and how her mutations affected her unique body chemistry.
Walking to a freestanding punching bag, he gave an small smile in greeting as he then stretched some, then went to lightly punching at the bag, which shuddered with each solid smack his hands gave it...

Violet was clad in the same outfit as before, with the addition of a pair of rubber-soled stage shoes which she only used for training and for stealth purposes. Her long black hair was pulled back in a ponytail at the nape of her neck. She nodded to him once as he entered, the got down on the ground to resume her training. She was hoping that this wasn't going to turn into a problem. Still, she had a lot to accomplish, so she got started.
She started with the typical pushups, then moved to pyramid pushups, then fingertip pushups before she took a short break. Taking a small drink of water, she continued, trying to ignore what she knew was an audience. She did two sets of one handed pushups before she resumed a sitting position. Crossing her legs, she put rested her hands on her knees, her palms face-up. Her eyes closed, she began. A single brand of flame appeared over the center of each palm, becoming brighter with the inhale of her breath and darkening when she exhaled.
Following a ritual that only she knew, she remained entirely still but for her rhythmic breaths. Two more flames appeared in midair, one in front and one behind. After five more infinite seconds, four more appeared, each in between two others. With the eight licks of flame pulsing with her breath, they began to rotate around her still form, perfectly level. They accelerated after every fourth pulse. After a little while, they were spinning fast enough to join and become a ring of fire which pulsed about six inches from the ground. As the spinning peaked, Violet inhaled deeply and exhaled slowly. As she exhaled, the flames slowly faded and were extinguished.

With just a bit more effort than he felt was really needed, Will managed to keep from being totally distracted by Violet, as he lazily sparred with the punching bag for a few moments, then went to a training torso, which was a heavy duty dummy that looked kind of like a gray rubber amputee on a poll.
Rolling his neck and shoulders about, he then went to sparring with it some, starting with some simple punches and then slowly added technique as he went on, his elbows coming into play, then his knees and feet, until soon his strikes where barely restrained blows that, while an expert might scoff at their execution, a master would understand and appreciate they're simple power and efficiency, superpowers not withstanding.
As he warmed up, he caught glimpses of Violet from across the room, and was impressed with her strength, she was deceptively lithe, but perfectly toned it seemed, his sharp eyesight only helped him note the way her pale skin contained her solid, lean and compact musculature as the cords of her shoulder and arms contracted and slid under the skin with the ease and exactness of a well oiled machine, which any athlete would tell you, was the whole point of training.
Once he was warmed up, he went to one of the weight stations, setting up the bench press with a good two hundred pounds, at about the same time Darkbrand started her little light show, but by this point, Will was in what many might have called "the zone", which is to say that he was in a place where he was dialed in on his own heartbeat, his breathing, and the actions he was preforming, he motions like a fluid extension of his will, his thoughts smooth and easy as he lifted the weight with ease, the two-hundred pounds the same as say twenty or thirty pounds might have been to a fit person such as Tim or Violet, pleasant resistance, nothing more, nothing less.
Will kept it up, pausing only to adjust his grip, so that he could press one handed, first with his left, and then his right, and then at last he paused to add weight, and watch as Violet reached the peak her her little exercise, the ring of fire now bright and swirling like a tiny storm of flame that then faded as she ended.
Will had to pause and even clap softly a few times; it was impressive, and he could feel the power and strength of the control, and of her life-force, and it was truly impressive, and he wondered now just how much she had held back when fighting him, although he knew for a fact that his internal conflict, and what he was guessing was his better sense had been holding him back as well, he was still set upon by a gut check over crossing her, but then, he wasn't planing on doing that at all now.
Going back to the weights, Will decided in the back of his mind to push himself some, and even show off a little bit, so he went from he standard weight machines to to heavy duty ones used, he guessed (correctly), by Cyborg and Starfire, and even Beast Boy, when he was in his larger and stronger forms.
He turned on the small computer and activated a program that was a benchmarking routine, and started off with two-hundred pounds of weight on a kind of cradle that was mounted at one end to the machine, which was built into the wall, where the first set of weights was loaded from.
Will set his shoulders under the cradle and then pushed the little green button and felt the weights lower down, and drop onto the cradle, and himself, then a few moments later, the weight was doubled, and then another 200Lbs. weight was set down, and then three seconds later, another.
As this went on, Will calmly started to squat the weight, with barely any effort at first, but soon he was was breathing deeply, but slowly, the weight now at 1200Lbs. which he was moving slowly, the computer pausing the increase at the moment and assessing his push-button request for more weight...

Violet's eyes opened as she heard a sound: clapping? That was new. Of course, she didn't generally have an audience when she was training, either. She took a moment to watch his benching, appreciating the raw power behind it. Her face, though, was carefully neutral, not wanting to further encourage the strange fixation with her he seemed to be developing. After a couple moments, she returned to her own training. She closed her eyes again, beginning her meditation. Silence was generally required for this type of exercise, but in her experience, silence was very hard to come by. She had learned to adapt.
Her meditation was deep and very introspective. Seeking inner stillness, she quieted the roaring flame in her mind, restraining it through peace of mind until it was little more than a candle flicker. She tried to ignore the flames she could sense around the city, from each car engine to the dying cigarette butts. The more she relaxed, the more she could sense, but she swept her awareness aside and inhabited only her spiritual core. Without this type of meditation, her control would wane. Fire didn't want to be contained. It wanted to grow and burn everything around it. With training, Violet was learning how to restrain it.

Will closed his eyes and pushed the green button on the floor with his foot again, his focus no longer on Violet, or anything other than tapping into that next level he knew he had, the one Violet had somehow unearthed when she had punched him, a level that he could feel slowly well up, as he dove deep into the feral power he could feel building inside, his mind flashing into a savage place for a few moments as he bucked under the increasing weight, a loud slam of metal on rubberized coated metal sounding before the low click and clack of weights being lowered onto the cradle resumed, and he felt it grow easier for the moment.
As well is should, since he was now once more a nine and a half foot tall Werewolf squatting nearly two full tons of iron...
After another few minuets of squatting, Will at last stopped, lowered the cradle and then took a knee to breathe deeply a few times, and then walk to the Sparring ring, where he reverted to his human form, adjusted the shorts and then replaced the now stretched out tank top with a fresh one kept in his back pocket, and then set to forming up a pair of fire balls, his eyes now a constant glowing royal blue as the balls of heat and light rested in his hands, he then set to making them hover and float, around his arms, slowly leaving streaks of light as they orbited his out stretched limbs, until he at last brought them together into a single sphere, which he guided about the ring like it was on a string, his fingers twitching and the tip of his tongue just peeking out of his mouth as he made the orb move faster, and faster, a soft brush of noise from the flames that trailed along until he brought his hand back and closed his palm, the orb exploding silently into two separate entity's, pure heat, and pure light, then they faded as he set himself into a fighting stance and closed his eyes, the glowing of which seemed to paint his eyelids a strange blue tint, as heat started to ripple about him softly...
He was aware of Violet, in a part of his mind, much like radar, he could sense almost everything about her, her heartbeat, the impulses of her brain, the current in her nervous system, the chemistry of her body, the sweet yet almost spicy cinnamon like flavor of her warmth, the rippling of raw energy and power hidden deep within, as well as a kind of calm and mysterious aura about her emotions and thoughts, where where guarded, and orderly, much like Robin's, and yet, even while he could feel her in such a extended, yet personal way, like a gentle hug that touched all of his internal senses, she was also, not there in the forefront of his mind, for at the moment, the only thing that existed there was heat, light, fire, energy and power...
His memories still didn't make all that much sense, if only because they all had the same level of meaning, but Will was now, fully himself in body and mind at least, he was again, strong, proud, brave and noble, everything he had always knew he was, and he could feel his body alight with his spirit and mind at last, the last traces of conflict gone from his being, and suddenly, there was a calmness that settled on him as he breathed deeper and deeper...

Her meditation was profound enough that she didn't notice what Will was doing until some minutes later, when at last she opened her dark eyes. He was practicing the use of his powers, much in the way that she sometimes did. Day to day, though, she only did control exercises routinely. Today, however, she had some experimenting that she wanted to do. She needed to learn her own limits a little more precisely than she did. She knew that she could sense the fires throughout the city, but she didn't know how far away she could be to control a fire. Standing, she went to a cupboard on the far side of the room and pulled out something that would be the last thing anyone would expect her to have.
A lighter. It seemed a bit stupid for her to need a lighter, but nevertheless, she did.
"Will?" she asked. "Could you help me with something? I need to do some range tests with my abilities."
She knew that controlling the fires made by other pyros was more difficult than controlling "natural" fire. Sometimes, it wasn't possible to control fire that was created by other pyros. In this case, she needed to know how far away she could be to still control a natural fire.

Will's skin seemed to glow for a moment then in shimmered slightly as he let his powers fade back into the soft flickering flow of rest, his eyes slowly fading back the their piercing steely blue as he looked to Violet with a small friendly smile, and replied; "Hmm? Oh sure thing Violet, but uhh, well, I could do it a lot faster myself, with some candles, ya' know?"
He hopped over the ropes and landed with the silent deadly grace of a predator and gingerly took the lighter from her, then blinked; "Oh wait, you just want a natural flame right?" he said as he handled the lighter and turned it around in his hand, twirling it between his fingers some before flicking it on then off and looking up at her inquisitively...
Post by Violet Schultz on Nov 2, 2009 21:49:11 GMT -5
"Yes," she confirmed. "I need to test the range at which I can control a fire. I can sense fires in a thirty mile radius, but I haven't quite figured out how far away I can still control it. Since it's a bit harder to control fire from another pyro, a natural fire would be the most accurate test."
She could feel the fire inside of him, which was distinctly different from that of others. It was somehow...clean. She couldn't really put her finger on the feeling, but it reminded her vaguely of incense and the sun. Something not entirely of the physical world and its contaminations. Putting it out of her mind, she focused on the tiny flame of the lighter. It was so fragile comparatively...
"I am going to go further away in increments of five feet, starting at 100, since that's the furthest I've ever tried," she continued. "Since walls don't change my level of control, I think it's best if you remain indoors so that we don't get any problems with wind. Try standing in the living room so that I'll still be able to see it through the glass window. I'm going to change so I don't destroy my shoes, and I'll be out in five minutes."
She was fond of those shoes... Only her Titans uniform could survive a trip with her flying. The others couldn't survive the heat.

Will nodded his understanding and gave a small half-smile as he toyed with the lighter and walked to the common room, and waited, until he saw Violet outside, then he flicked it on and waited...
He could understand wanting to test and push oneself, it was what he had been doing only a few minuets ago with the weight machine, but this was something that seemed almost trivial to Will, likely because he remembered that his limit on control and projection was about a mile, and while he could go past that, his exact control was lacking at any range much past a mile, and as such, his accuracy and influence over natural fire was marginal at best.
But then he figured that Violet didn't know her exact limits, so he would help her in anyway she wanted with this, he did owe her after all...

Violet hovered level with where Will stood, the air shimmering under her from the heat. The flame output was minimal, only trailing a foot or so from the balls of her feet. Her eyes gleamed lavender under the lids as she concentrated on the flame he held in front of him. It was so inconsequential compared to Blaze's inner flame, but she had to focus on it. Maybe it would've been a better test if Robin helped... No, Robin was busy. She would have to make do. Her hand was extended in front of her as she focused, and the flame flickered into purple as she gained control, then extinguished a second later.
Backing up, she waited for him to reignite the flames and then repeated the exercise. In increments of five feet, she gained control of the natural fire and extinguished it, pleased to find that her level of control didn't diminish in any way in the distances they were trying. At two hundred, she decided to try something new. She focused with her eyes closed, feeling out the flames to make the control exact. The flame turned purple and then expanded slowly and took the form of words which floated just above the lighter.
[glow=purple,5,300]"I'm going to 50 m intervals."[/glow] The words extinguished after a few seconds and she did as she said.

Will looked up out of the large by huge window at Violet, and he judged her distance from the tower to be a good hundred yards or so, plus the three or four yards he was from the window, and she was still able to exert her will over the small flame, so much so she used it to send him a message.
Smirking he took a deep breath, calmed himself (to help dampen his own interference) then looked right at her, his eyes suddenly glowing as pure, soft blue light formed in front of her like a beam from a laser, only bending in on itself infinitely like a glowing loop of string until it formed words as well; [glow=blue,2,300]"Show off... Okay, I judge you to be about one hundred and twenty something yards from me, good luck."[/glow]
He waited until he could sense (both via sight, and his extra sensory inputs) her stop moving, then he flicked it on again as he closed his eyes and focused on being as still, calm, and at rest as he could, his senses mixing with his powers as he felt her warmth move into the room and invade his senses, as if his consciousness was being approached by hers like two people walking up to each other in a room...
Will impulsively felt himself smile and greet her, but it took all of a slow steady heartbeat to realize that he wasn't vocalizing at all, and that his mind suddenly felt energized and open like never before, and to top it all off, he could sense his skin grow warmer, as if all that was, suddenly was some form of warmth, that heat was all that could be, and that he and Violet where pure fire.
"Hi Vi, can you hear me?" he felt himself echo in his mind, and he could imagine in her's as well...

Violet recoiled from the touch, more out of surprise than anything else. Realizing what it was, she relaxed and allowed her mind to meet his. It was like a new sense, one that was all in her head. She could feel his pulsing warmth, which wasn't unlike her own, except that at the epicenter she could sense a bright light which seemed to be the source of the strange pure feeling which she could always sense in his inner fire. She could also feel the raw animal tinge to his mind, the hint of which she had seen when he had been attacking her previously. She could also feel a little of the ancient power which gave him strength.
I can hear you, she replied. How are you doing this?
She could feel her own curiosity saturate her thoughts, and she knew he would pick up on it.

Good question, I wish I knew...
Will would be fibbing like a pathological liar if he was to say that he wasn't totally smitten at the moment, Violet's energy, thoughts, powers, her life-force, her very essence seemed to be right there in front of him, lest than the thickness of his skin away, brushing lightly over his being in a way as her voice invaded his being, a tickle of power bubbling up inside of himself as he enjoyed the gentle yet powerful, sweet and hot feel of her energies linking with his own powerful energy.
Will almost blushed, in every sense of the word as he puzzled for a heartbeat about her question. But after a moment more of thinking, he replied; "Not totally sure about the details, but I'm being as low energy a possible, and allowing my senses to feed off my powers, and vice-versa, which seems to act like a radio wave I guess, so when you reached out with your powers, I guess my powers and senses locked onto you.. Uhh, cause your the hottest thing in the city other than me..."
Okay, that sounded like a come on, even though it really wasn't, at least not at heart, but then...
Ugh! All the sudden noise and blur of his memories reminding him of random things, that all where equally important, and yet weren't, almost distracted him to the point of breaking the strange link he had stumbled across, but as he stilled the sudden burst of thought Will suddenly realized that some of the noise wasn't him...
It was Violet...
Blinking his eyes open, Will felt a mild rush of blood go to his head before he settled back into this new state of "normal" and then spoke to Violet again; "Anyway, this could be a huge advantage for us in a fight or during any kind of crisis right?"
That's right, don't gush over her, she is after all, just a girl.
A very pretty, mysterious, interesting, butt-kicking, powerful, and somehow exotic girl, but a girl non-the-less...

Her mental chuckle echoed in both of their minds. It had to be embarassing for him. She could hear every thought running through his mind, just as he could hear those passing through her own. Considering the fact that her suspicions had been confirmed, she was taking it in a way that would probably seem strange to him. After all, most girls would've probably been either gratified or embarrassed by the discovery.
As long as they were following that mental route, she might as well explain it to him.
She ran over it in her mind, thinking of all of the guys she had encountered that had been the same way. As the leader of the Shadows in St. Louis, she had been an item of lust for those under her. She had learned to ignore it and how to make them focus on the mission instead of scouting her derrière. She could see their faces, and she was sure that he could sense her distaste of some of them. She tried to avoid thinking of it, but his face still appeared in her mind.
Elias.
The memory was tinged by a world of deep pain numbed only by the passage of time and colored with anger. He had been the only one she'd allowed to get close. He had been her second-in-command. He had betrayed her, tried to kill her. And then he came back for seconds. The memory only lasted a moment before she swept it from her mind. She never liked to think of it for long.
Yes, it could come in handy, she agreed before withdrawing mentally. She didn't want to accidentally divulge more that she didn't want anyone to know.

"Uh yeah..."
Elias.
Will could have died when he realized that the pick up of thoughts and emotions was indeed not only a perfectly balanced two-way street, but that it was also deeper than he had first thought, and the instant he had heard the name, and seen the face, he knew that it was important, and as he thought of that, another name and face flashed between them.
Destiny.
And no, as corny and romantic as it might have been, it was not that sweet little poetic name lovers gave fate, but the name of a girl, a girl with rich, golden honey blond hair, and bright ocean blue eyes that snapped and sparkled in the sunlight, and a laugh that made a person glad to be alive...
She...
She had been his first in so many ways. His first crush, his first kiss, his first girlfriend, his first dance, and his first heartbreak, but...
A flood of memories, deeper than all the rest, darker, more painful than anything he had felt in the last week, smashed into the forefront of his mind, the fading remains of the link smashed like so much glass impacted with baseballs, like his sanity had been that one day.
Physically shuddering, Will jerked his head back and held it as he suddenly felt sick to his stomach, the lighter falling from his grip to the carpeted floor, as his head spun and his brain hammered on the back of his eyes and ears, his heart wrenching at what was flashing before his minds eye...
Blood was everywhere, running along the floor in a slow oozing stream, thick and warm, fresh and potent, a savage reaction clawing at the back of his mind as he walked slowly, quietly through a place that seemed to hold such a powerful mix of pain and comfort, until he saw them...
Two adults, bound, gagged, and laid on their backs, only the lower half's of their bodies could bee seen, but the trail of blood ran from them, the dark crimson red of the man, mixing with the almost metallic royal blue of the woman, the two having a strong scent that was tearing at his throat...
But his eyes slowly drifted from them, to a figure in the far doorway, hanging by the wrists, a slender, willowy frame, young, female, with golden locks, and long limbs, red staining the front of her blue shirt, the words on it barely readable now, words that said; "Worlds best girlfriend" now covered in bright red blood that smelled of purity, of life, of...
Retching up his breakfast, Will gasped out a burst of light exploding from his hand out of the window at Violet, a single four letter word flashing at her [glow=Blue,2,300]"Help"[/glow] Before falling to his knees, Will suddenly burst into flames...
