Name: Garfield Mark Logan
Alias:Beast Boy, Beast-Brat, Salad-head, Changeling, Green Jeans
Species:Altered human
Age:fifteen
Gender: Male
Team Affiliation: He’s a Titan
Member Group: Hero
Canon: Yuppers.
Appearance:
[OOC: Sorry, I’ve always been terrible at describing appearances.]
Beast Boy’s hair is a spiky one, cropped short. It’s light green in color, a tad darker than his skin, and has three rather short bangs, barely reaching his eyebrows. Yet, when his hair’s wet, it’ll droop down to his eyes. His green eyes.
His eyes are dark green with black pupils. They’re rather big for his face, but not humongous enough to be an odd feature. Often glimmering with mischief, these orbs can easily change shape, along with the rest of his body, to form the right eye of said animal. Yet, they always remain the same color. In his human form, his eyes are also protected with two thick eyebrows. They’re coal black which is a big surprise seeing as his hair color’s light green. Between the two eyebrows is a nose. It’s rather pointy, but not too much. Mid-way between pointy and flat. It stands above a rather large mouth, figuratively and physically speaking. It looks like any other mouth except for one striking future: fangs. Beast Boy has two fangs on either side of his mouth and, even when it’s closed, they stick out.
All of this is on an almost circular green face with a point only for his chin. This face stands on a rather thin neck, also green. That’s his skin color, after all: light green, a tinge lighter than his hair. Beast Boy’s face is also in between two ears. They’re not normal ears, however. Although normal size, they appear rather large thanks to his short hair. With no hair to cover them, they stand out and give the wrong impression of being big. But, that’s not all that seems unusual about this changeling’s ears: they’re pointy. Most, normal, ears are circular at the tip, but Beast Boy’s pointy like a needle. To whoever should get a glimpse of him, Beast Boy’s ears normally reminds them of those of certain animals.
As for clothes, Beast Boy wears a purple and black jumpsuit. It sticks to him, transforming with him and failing to rip thanks to certain chemicals it’s made from. It was a Doom Patrol uniform and is still worn by him. In fact, seeing as this makes a perfect suit for him, it’s basically all he wears with exceptions. The long sleeves and pant-legs are black, leaving what covers his chest to be light purple. The purple also, however, extends to a small part of the pants, creating a form of “shorts”. A grey belt clips him at the point where his jumpsuit “shirt” blends into “pants”. It’s round on the front with grey strips leading around him.
His shoes are also purple, black and a tinge of grey. They’re big, looking like a cross between sneakers and boots. The actual body’s purple, blending into black on the front, sides and back. There’s a grey rectangle across the front, black bands stretching across it. The bottom’s also grey, outlined with black. Then there’s his gloves which Beast Boy likes to wear constantly. The only time he ever takes them off is during vacation which hardly happens to the Titan. It’s simple, completely grey with a black band closing it shut on the front. If it should ever be taken off, Beast Boy’s hands are like anyone else’s, except green.
Thanks to Beast Boy’s clothing, no part of his body’s normally visible except for his face. Being the youngest, he’s the shortest Titan. Yet, currently, his growing and will probably have a growth spurt soon. He’s also the least muscular of the Titan boys, but that doesn’t mean he’s not muscular. He does have muscles which is a completely natural thing for a hero who’d been fighting villains for years.
Personality:
So, what’s the green teenager like personality-wise? Well, asking others would supply you with words like “jokester”. To the public, he’s the klutz and prankster. As for the wacko sitting on that bench over there with the DUNCE cone on his head? A good percentage that’s him, they’ll say. Nobody really knows much else about him or care. Even the Titans simply label him as the comic relief of the group and leave it as that. Being the youngest, he’s also often classified as the “immature, stupid kid” with an eminent talent to be annoying. That’s why people frequently loose patience with and ignore him. He’s never taken seriously. After all, he’s not the smartest or best at fighting. The only talent he has apparent to the public’s being annoying and his awfully corny jokes which also fall into the “annoying” category. Therefore, he’s treated as such.
There’s more to the green changeling, however. In fact, he’s probably the most misunderstood Titan, though some would say second most. Raven chooses to bottle up her emotions and be obvious with her problems, but Beast boy chooses a different outlet: humour. That side of him, though, is only there for hiding his insecurities. There are rare moments when he shows his timid serious nature but, at such times, he always had the bad luck of getting hurt.
In some respects, he’s very mature for a boy his age. He had confessed to two girls, was rejected by one and betrayed by the other. He has watched many of his Doom Patrol colleagues die and knows what it’s like being alone with nobody to turn to. That being said, he does have an immature streak reflecting his age as the youngest Titan. He’s more the “coping type”. He has all these burdens most kids his age don’t have and doesn’t know how to deal with them. Therefore, instead, he tries to forget them and have fun in the present.
Now, notice how I stated that he has an “immature streak”? And how, in the first paragraph, I explained how his peers think he’s an “immature, stupid kid”? Well, it’s time to explain this further. He’s not, I repeat: he’s not , stupid. His friends call him “stupid” heaps of times. But, that doesn’t mean it’s true. There are different types of “smarts”. There’s “text-book smarts” which is what most people define as “smart”. Then there are oodles of other types of “smarts”. Beast Boy happens to lack the text-book kind, but excel in the other categories. In fact, I describe him as smarter than many teens his age. Sure, he doesn’t know what the capital of Zaire is, but he’s a creative individual with an observant eye. He fails at planning, but thinking at the spot’s his middle name. He also is quite wise in the philosophical sense. I know what you’re thinking: “WHAT???” But it’s true. If you can catch Beast Boy’s serious side, he can be one Aristotle. Ok, maybe not. But that’s still his endowment. It comes with his creativity and gift of thinking outside the box. Yes, thinking outside the box. That’s one thing Beast Boy aces at.
The main reason people find him stupid is his rambling. This happens solely when he’s excited, but he can’t help it. Excitement manipulates his brain, erasing the ability “to think before he acts” off with a colossal eraser. That leaves his big mouth moving, uttering anything the minute he thinks them. Therefore, he’ll be rambling, saying loads he’ll later regret. He loathes this, but doesn’t know how to control his excitement. Thanks to his easily-excitable personality, Beast Boy’s excited half the time. Therefore, this whole “thinking before acting” thing doesn’t help his “immature” reputation.
So, no, Beast Boy isn’t stupid. He knows that and detests how his reputation says otherwise. Everyone, especially Raven, calls him “stupid”. Sure, he doesn’t look unhappy about this, but that’s just on the outside. On the outside, he takes it as a joke. On the inside, he’s hurt and angry. Another thing about Beast Boy: he hides his anger by bottling it up, masking it with the same corny humour. This can get more dangerous, however, since his anger’s loads more fierce when it‘s finally provoked. Once, he even transformed into a dangerous beast. When that happened, he was uncontrollable. He even stood up to Raven, the only time he voiced his dislike of being called “stupid” and other undesirable titles.
Another thing he did, during the time his little beasty side took over, was devouring meat. You know what that proves? His angry, rebellious, side would eat meat. He obviously used to enjoy it. Obviously would like to gulp-up meat like his friends. The only thing is, he can’t. Popular rumour states that this salad-head adores vegetarian food especially tofu. But that’s not completely true. Although he doesn’t mind vegetarian, he doesn’t eat it because he likes it. He eats it because his changeling powers prevents him from the meat experience. It’s all he can eat and tofu just happens to be his favourite vegetarian food. Yet, he’s “have fun in the present” personality has him optimistic about this, pretending to dislike meat and love tofu.
Beast boy’s also a bit of a nerd. He plays video games at a break-finger pace and watches TV so much he knows what an eighth-level Samurai’s only weakness is. You want to know what was on TV at a specific time? Beast boy’s your man. He gains a +20 on naming TV shows and everything else electronically based you DON'T need your brain for.
Alright, I bet you all know when Starfire, one of Beast Boy’s friends, traveled to the future? She saw what would happen to each one of her friends if the Titans should separate. Well, what she saw for Beast Boy was him performing in a one-man circuit. This is important. All he’s life, he’d been the comic relief. Then, when the Titans separate, he’s still entertaining. He said that he tried the whole “hero” thing alone, but got nowhere. That means he’s not good at fighting, fitting more as a side-kick than a hero. Then he decided on a one-man circuit only to get food thrown on him by a couple of kids, or his only audience. This shows that he stinks at that too. That, although it might look like comedy’s all he has, he doesn’t even have that. He has nothing . Without his friends, he’s a nobody. His baldness was to illustrate this even more [since it‘s a symbolism for being a nobody]. He doesn’t have his “handsomeness”, fighting abilities or humour any longer. This shows how much he depends on the group and how insecure he is. He pretends to be funny. Pretends to have comedic talent when he has none and knows that. Yet, he tries to fashion it into a talent just so he’ll have one. To make a good name for himself. He tries, but believes he’s a nobody. Especially without the Titans. This makes him quite the insecure teen indeed.

Strengths and Weaknesses:
Power: Beast Boy has the ability to morph into any animal that he has seen himself or has seen in an illustration (as is the case when he shapeshifts into an animal such as a dinosaur). These transformations take only a second to complete and Beast Boy has demonstrated that he is capable of rapidly changing his form with little or no effort expended. As a 'safety' to this power, he can transform back into his default form if an external force like magic transforms him into an animal. His power enables him to completely alter his body mass, being able to take the shape of animals far larger and heavier than himself, such as an elephant, a hippopotamus, or a Tyrannosaurus Rex, or smaller and lighter animals such as mice and insects. However, he cannot change or return to a form if the space he occupies is too small and he cannot normally break the confines. His power also enables him to radically alter his body structure and take forms of animals without limbs, like snakes, or those without skeletons like a jellyfish. If the organism has the ability to replicate quickly, he is able to gain that ability and replicate himself as that body, however, he's unable to take the shape of multipule animals at once if they do not have this ability naturally.
While as an animal, he gains all the physical abilities and characteristics of said animal, such as great strength (a gorilla), speed (a cheetah), and durability (a turtle). He also gains abilities such as flight (various birds) and aquatic breathing (various fish). He can even gain the specific poison produced by specific snakes. While in animal form, Beast Boy retains his human intellect, memories, and the ability to speak. No matter what form he takes, his skin, hair, and eyes remain green, making most of his animal forms easy to distinguish from real animals of that species. Beast Boy has also shown the ability more than once to transform into alien animals, including sentient species.
Strength:
--A natural bond to all living things
--A sense of the proper animal to change into at the proper time
--A creative and imaginative mind
--A great sense of humour!
--Devilishly handsome!
--A nerd
--Thinking outside the box
Weakness:
--Rash
--Gregarious [no mater who, when, where, why, how]
--Gullible to a fault
--Klutz
--Doesn’t think of the consequences before acting when excited
--Vegetarian
--Looses control of his powers when sick
History:
When he was a toddler, Beast Boy was taken to Upper Lamumba, an African country, by his parents, the biologists Mark and Marie Logan. The parents were there to research genetic codes. While they were there, Beast Boy was bitten by a rabid monkey and infected with the tropical disease Sukutia, which is terminal to humans. In a desperate gambit to save his son, Mark Logan used an untested machine to isolate the common genetic bond between humans and animals. Beast Boy soon recovered, but it was quickly discovered that his skin was permanently tinged green, a side affect of the experiment that saved him.
Years later, when his mother Marie was attacked by a large Black Mamba snake, Beast Boy brought forth his powers for the first time to save his mother, transforming into a mongoose, a known predator of snakes. He found he could change into other forms, but never seemed to get control over them for a time. Years later his parents died in a boating accident. They urged him to change into a bird and fly away and he did. He still believed years later that he could have prevented his parent’s death.
After his parents died, Beast Boy was raised by King Tawaba, friend of the Logans and chief of the local tribe. The tribe’s witch doctor Mobu despised the Logans, so much in fact he hired two Americans to kill Beast Boy in exchange for the whereabouts of fabulous treasures. In the end, Mobu was killed when the temple collapsed. Beast Boy, however, was rescued by the Americans, who merely wanted to bring him back to the US to commit crimes for them. Beast Boy, only a young child, hid some of the jewels in an attempt to play a game. The two men thought each other were cheating the other and killed one-and-other. Beast Boy was alone once more. The courts set out to appoint a legal guardian for Beast Boy, but things got no better. Nicholas Galtry was appointed his guardian and he couldn’t care less about Beast Boy. In fact, all Galtry wanted was Gar’s inheritance. He soon plotted to kill the boy. Gar soon met the Doom Patrol, taking on the name Beast Boy.
When Beast Boy joined the Doom Patrol, Galtry upped his efforts, hiring several supervillains to kill him and the Doom Patrol. Rita Farr and Steve Dayton were soon married and determined to win custody of Gar in court. It was difficult and the couple nearly lost the case when it was outed that Gar was Beast Boy. Rita changed her form to look like Beast Boy in order to create the illusion that Gar and Beast Boy were two separate people. It worked and Dayton won the case. Gar was free of Galtry’s influence, for the moment.
Gar then joined his parents on the Doom Patrol, serving until General Zahl killed most of the team. He left home and traveled to Hollywood, gaining a lead role in the show Space Trek 2022. The show flopped for being an unmemorable show and he soon found himself out of a job.
Gar was then reunited with his former girlfriend, Jillian Jackson, but she was quickly kidnapped by a villain named Arsenal. Gar fought the villain, who turned out to be Galtry. Galtry intended to hold Jillian for ransom equal to what he lost when Gar’s guardianship was taken from him. Gar was unable to amass the ransom and was left in an airtight room while Galtry tried to extract the ransom from Jillian’s father. Beast Boy escaped and fought the villain, shattering his costume and defeating him.
After getting rejected, the changeling later found himself in Jump City where an alien girl was causing havoc. Stepping in to help a teenager he later realized was the famous boy wonder, Gar soon found himself apart of a newly made group called the “Teen Titans”. They were a superhero group fighting crimes. After a while of fighting along with his newly-made friends and family, Beast Boy met with a girl named “Terra”. When Terra and Beast Boy met, Beast Boy liked her almost immediately. He liked how she laughed at his jokes. Surprisingly enough, a lot of people laugh at his jokes now and then, but she was different. Her laugh was different. He had fun on their first, and last, date too until-until he showed-up. Beast Boy couldn’t believe she was Slade’s apprentice, even when he had it spelled out by her. He thought he knew her and the Terra he knew wouldn’t do that. Hurt, surprised, betrayed and frustrated, Beast Boy had told her she didn’t have any friends before storming out.
But that was a lie. Although deep down, Beast Boy knew she did this voluntarily, he couldn’t get himself to admit it. He kept asking the Titans to give her a second chance, too hurt and wanting to believe she was forced to do this by Slade [like Robin]. After Terra ‘killed’ him with that-that look in her eyes even after his pleads, Beast Boy finally managed to admit. Later, however, Terra betrayed Slade and saved the world, morphing herself into a statue in the process. Beast Boy was sad, but proud of her.
Beast Boy later rescued the Doom Patrol from the hands of the evil crime syndicate known as the Brotherhood of Evil. The Teen Titans soon found themselves on a race around the world against the Brotherhood, who were trying to eliminate teen superheroes for their own sinister purposes. When Robin was captured, it was up to Beast Boy to save them all. Gathering new allies Jericho, Herald, Pantha and Mas, Beast Boy successfully led an assault team to liberate the Titans and defeat the Brotherhood of Evil. Upon returning from his globe-trotting adventure, Beast Boy was shocked to discover a school girl who looked exactly like Terra!
Finding Terra’s tomb empty, Beast Boy was convinced that Terra had indeed returned - and he pleaded with her to return to the team. But the school girl insisted that "things change" and she was not the girl he knew. Yes, he was hurt. Very hurt. But he knew this was what he needed to finally get over her. As a statue of her saving the world, she was a constant reminder of the girl he liked but would never probably see again. Being rejected by her, finally hearing the words, led to a closure and ended the frequent mournful visits to the statue. He was finally able to move on and look to his future.
Roleplay Example:
The sun shone dazzlingly, setting a warm ray upon the park bellow. The grass glimmered with the slight dew gathered a while ago when it rained. They slowly danced with the cool breeze, parting as an unhappy green dog padded through. His ears drooped down and so did his moping face while he dragged himself through the park. The weather definitely didn’t correspond with this dog’s mood. The screech of children playing amongst the grass filled the air along with the rather loud barking of other dogs. They were all happy, jumping around as though the park was a trampoline. Even the odd adults and teens were enjoying themselves, though mostly sitting down on a bench, chatting. The green dog was the only unhappy being, standing out more than he normally would have merely with his green pelt.
This was unusual for this green dog, but everyone has their bad days. Now, I think we all know who this dog is. The odd thing is that Beast Boy somewhat resembles a dog. No, I don’t mean look wise. I mean social wise. Dogs tend to like companions, preferring to be around people rather than abandoned somewhere deserted. If left alone, they’ll usually be found moping in lonesome. Well, Beast Boy is exactly like that. He enjoys spending time with his friends much more than he enjoys sitting in his secluded room, boredom ranking its sharp claws through him. When the Titans first met, he was the most eager, trying hard to find new companions. It was a while since he’d left the Doom Patrol, alone for the entire time. This became obvious with his constant effort to get to know the other heroes. Whether that worked or not, the Titans were soon formed Leaving Beast Boy with the grateful impression that he was about to be around people.
Currently, however, he was not.
Not long before he entered the park, he was standing in a deserted hallway situated inside the massive tower he called home. Lately, the Titans had been ignoring him, Well, not ‘ignoring’ per-say. More in the lines of being too busy. It happened sometimes. There were phases where Beast Boy spent hoursloosingplaying video games with Cybrog, trying to force Raven into a game of Stankball or “America’s newest sensation”, joking with his friends and just being the “Beast Boy” everyone knew. Then there was the phase where nobody had the time. He tries to spend time with his friends, really he does, but they’re all busy with something else. That leaves Beast Boy with the three: he, himself and Beast Boy. In another words: he was alone.
Beast Boy loathed being alone. He always switched on the TV at such times, watching the box for hours on end. Sometimes, they’ll be nothing on and he’ll just switch through the channels aimlessly, a bottle of pop on one hand. No matter how much he loved the TV, it was obvious the social animal wasn’t too happy. He’d just spent who-knows-how-long watching the thing, finally deciding to turn it off. That’s how he found himself standing in the hallway, silence all round him.
“I’m going to go to the park just near here, ok dudes?” He announced, pausing as if waiting for a reply. Silence. “Dudes?” More Silence. If you were to see him, you’ll see his face drooping down gloomily. They probably can’t hear. This tower’s huge. Not that it mattered anyways, they were all too busy. Plus, he believed some of them weren't even in the tower. With that, he left it for the park. The changeling liked the park like, once again, dogs did. He couldn’t place a reason behind his love for it, just that it had that awesome aroma. Perhaps it was the fresh air? Most people would be craving for it after hours of watching TV, but, whatever the reason was, he was soon in the park he liked.
His loneliness had formed a moping dog out of him. When Beast Boy feels an enormous amount of a certain feeling, this time being loneliness, he transforms into a dog. They represent the feeling too. For example, he’d morphed into a hound when he was angry at Terra as opposed to the cute happy one while having fun in their date. With his head down, he padded slowly through the wet grass, ignoring the odd looks people were giving "the green moping dog”. He stepped onto the rode, wanting to get to the other side of the park. Forgetting to look both ways, however, ended up as a bad choice when a car whooshed his way. He stood there, surprise slapping him with its cold hands. He wasn’t even able to move and was soon blinded by the lights.
Beast Boy’s eyes were pressed shut by the blinding ever-growing light, a mixture of feelings spinning around his head. At first, he was shocked. This was completely normal as people, and dogs, don’t necessarily expect a close encounter with a car or, in another words, an accident. This is especially true when that person was buried in his own thought when it happened. Then Beast Boy felt fear. Once again: completely normal. What kind of a living being wouldn’t be scared when he’s about to be thrown off by a car? Yet, Beast Boy’s shock glued his paws to the ground, precluding him from moving out of the way. The light continued to grow and it was becoming obvious that the car wasn’t about to stop until---well, until it did.
A loud screech stuffed Beast Boy’s ears as the car halted. For a couple of heartbeats later, Beast Boy’s eyes still remained closed. Did the car hit him? He didn’t think so. He hadn’t heard any thud or bones breaking. He also hadn’t felt any collision. Perhaps he was dead? Beast Boy slowly opened his eyes to reveal the car just a paw-step ahead of him, the roaring and honking of other cars accompanying his vision. Well, if he was dead, the other world was remarkably like where he’d just left. Na, he was certain he was alive. The car didn’t hit him. As he came to that conclusion, the door to the car opened and a girl stepped out. Well, it looked more like she was being pushed out.
Then it hit him…Terra?
Terra most certainly remembered him, she called him “Beast Boy”. Struck with the realization of her identity, the dog immediately morphed into a teen, a rather high-pitched gasp following the transformation. “Terra…?” There was a pause. Then, once again, it hit him. She had called him an idiot and asked a question. “Duuuude, I am not an idiot.” Another pause and then, “I just didn’t look both ways.”
There were too much going on at the same time. Therefore, Beast Boy slowly began realizing different things. “Heeey you remembered me,” he pointed out with a cocky grin. “And…wait a minute…didn’t that girl call you Terra? I thought that wasn’t your name.” Yup, Beast Boy could be a real brainy-pants sometimes. In fact, he often likes showing off his brain-power. That’s why he recites what he reads on comics, TV and cereal boxes, which the gullible him believes are “facts” when they’re completely wrong. This, of course, only adds to his “stupid” image however he dislikes it. Every time he tries to act smart, he fails. But that’s probably because he and everyone else don’t respect the kind of smart he has. Not text-book smarts, but observant and creative smarts.
Once again, too much was happening at the same time. As a result of that, Beast Boy just spat out his reaction to everything. Recognizing Terra, the fact that she recognized him, answering her questions and asking his own. Now, the fact that she was terra was truly sinking in.
